About Covered.ir

Covered.ir is an Iranian network observability product. Its aim is to give a simple, understandable view of the quality and availability of the network paths, monitored sites and datacentres it watches, along with a number of widely used services.

Covered focuses on technical information and public network observability: rather than a broad verdict on whether "the internet is good today", it shows the few figures that were actually measured, and says where each of them came from.

• Network administrators and infrastructure teams who need to know whether a problem is theirs or the route's.
• Businesses whose service depends on one particular domestic or international datacentre.
• Developers and technical users assessing route quality before buying or migrating.

How we operate

Covered.ir operates within the laws and regulations of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Covered is not a government service or a regulatory authority, and claims no affiliation with, endorsement by, or representation of any official body.

Privacy

Using the dashboard requires no account, and no third-party analytics or tracking tools run on this site. The only cookie is your chosen language, written when you switch languages; your light/dark theme and wallboard settings stay in your own browser and are never sent to the server.

The visitor counter still turns your network address and browser identifier into a pseudonymous identifier using a random key that is generated on the server and never leaves it; that identifier is deleted 24 hours after your last visit, and only two numbers are derived from it: how many people are online and how many distinct visitors there were in the last 24 hours. Separately, for site administration and security, your network address, browser identifier, and last page viewed are kept for up to 30 days and are visible only to the site administrator. This data is never shared with third parties and is not used for advertising or targeting.

Contact form messages are stored in our database and are visible only to the site administrator; they are never shared with third parties.

Technical independence

Any commercial, advertising or promotional relationship must remain separate from the technical data, and must not affect status, score, ranking or any monitoring figure. A site's technical score is computed from its own measurements alone.

Methodology

This section explains, in plain terms, what the numbers on this dashboard claim — and, just as importantly, what they do not.

What is measured

Covered follows the quality and availability of a defined set of network paths, monitored sites and datacentres, and a number of widely used services. The figures shown may include latency, packet loss, availability, uptime and incidents.

Where the data comes from

The measurements are taken by monitoring infrastructure, and Covered presents them. Some of what you see is calculated from that data — uptime, averages, rankings, incident summaries — and some of it is simply what was measured.

Compared against each path's normal behaviour

Different paths naturally perform differently: 95 ms is unremarkable on an international route and a serious fault on a domestic one. Each path is therefore judged mostly against its own normal, historical behaviour rather than against one universal threshold.

What the statuses mean

Healthy

The monitored path or service appears to be operating normally.

Degraded

It is still available, but quality is worse than expected.

Incident

A meaningful technical problem has been observed.

Down

No valid response is being observed according to the configured monitoring criteria.

Unknown

There is not enough reliable or fresh data.

Scope

Covered only reflects the locations, paths and services that are actually monitored. This dashboard does not claim to represent the entire internet or the experience of every user in Iran; different users, operators, regions and networks may experience different conditions.

Sources

Where third-party information is shown, it is clearly distinguished from Covered's own monitoring and its source is named. If sample data is active, the page identifies it as sample data.

Limitations

Covered tries to show information as accurately and as current as it can, but no monitoring system can observe every disruption, every path and every user's experience with certainty.

• The absence of an alert does not guarantee the absence of a problem.
• A problem that is observed does not necessarily affect every user.
• Measurements may be delayed, incomplete or temporarily unavailable.
• Some problems are too short, too localised, or outside the scope of the available measurements to be detected.
• Technical conditions can change quickly.

Limits and responsibility

Covered tries to provide accurate and useful technical information, but measurements can be incomplete, delayed or temporarily unavailable, Covered's own systems can make mistakes too, and not every problem can be detected. Verify information independently before making sensitive decisions; Covered accepts no legal liability for the accuracy of this information, and responsibility for decisions based on what is shown here rests with the user, subject to applicable law.
